Oak, walnut or painted wood: choosing the right species

Wood is not chosen by colour. It is chosen by use, light and what already exists in the room.

Materials and panels being prepared in the workshop

Oak is the most requested species: even grain, a light warm tone, resistance to daily use. It suits kitchens, bookcases and tables, and takes oils and matt varnishes well.

Walnut is darker, with an expressive grain and tonal variation that gives depth to a statement piece: a headboard, a dining table, a sideboard. It asks for generous light so the room does not close in.

Painted wood answers another question: when the colour must be exact, or when the piece should disappear into the wall. It keeps the touch and texture of wood with a uniform, repairable finish. On every project we compare the three with real samples on site, in the room's own light.
